The alcohol and drug evaluation, performed by a qualified clinician, involves a detailed assessment of an individual's history, substance use patterns, and personal circumstances to determine the presence of a substance abuse disorder.

The evaluation focuses on the nature of the assessment request, the client's historical background (including adolescence, relationships, children, education, work history, medical issues, criminal history, mental health history and the client's specific pattern of drug and/or alcohol use history), the client's resources (such as independent and stable housing, income, and reliable transportation), and the impact of drugs and/or alcohol use in the clients life.

The clinician will also utilize screening tools such as the Drug Abuse Screening Tool (DAST), the Texas Christian University Drug Screen (TCUDS), and the Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SSASSI-4) to provide measurable information about the client's current and historical substance use and potential for relapse.

Recommendations for recovery, if necessary, are tailored to the client's specific needs and referrals to resources local to the client are provided.

The fee for the evaluation is $___. Expert court testimony is an additional service provided at a $120 per hour rate.
